Dec. 07--A person was critically hurt and a firefighter was injured during a fire early Monday morning in the Clearing neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
The fire broke out just after 4 a.m. in a home in the 6000 block of South Nagle Avenue, said Chicago Fire Department Chief Joe Roccosalva.
The fire was struck out quickly, and firefighters rescued a person, whose age and gender was not immediately available, out of the flaming building.
The person suffered injuries and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Roccosalva said.
One firefighter received minor injuries while battling the fire as well and was taken to MacNeal Hospital for treatment, Roccosalva said.
No one else was reportedly injured, and the fire is still under investigation.
