Oct. 05--Fewer people were wounded in shootings this weekend than any weekend since the last of February, according to authorities and shooting data kept by the Chicago Tribune.
One person was shot to death in a domestic-related homicide and 12 others were wounded. The toll does not include a man shot to death by police who had just shot someone Sunday morning on the West Side, according to police.
The weekend follows the two most violent two-day weekends all year, in which more than 110 people were shot during the two Friday afternoon through Monday morning periods.
Over this weekend, one person was killed and three wounded in shootings Sunday night into Monday morning; a fourth person suffered what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Six people were wounded between Saturday and Sunday mornings. Two others were shot Friday night.
The last weekend that saw 13 or fewer gunshot victims was the last weekend of February. Four people were shot that weekend, according to Tribune data.
