Sept. 30--FBI officials are searching for a man sought in three bank robberies on the city's North and Northwest sides since August.
The robberies happened between Aug. 21 and Sept. 25, FBI officials said in a news release.
The bank robber, dubbed the "North Center Bandit," struck the PNC Bank branch at 4201 N. Lincoln Ave. at 2:24 p.m. Aug. 21. The robber entered the bank, approached a bank employee and made a "threatening demand" for money, FBI officials said.
About a week later, on Aug. 27, a man matching the same description entered the Chase Bank branch at 3335 N. Ashland Ave. about 4 p.m. and demanded cash in the same manner as the first robbery.
A similar robbery occurred at the Chase Bank branch at 3339 W. Belmont Ave. at 4:06 p.m. Friday.
No one was injured in the robberies, officials said.
The North Center Bandit has been described as a white man 25 to 35 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and 180 to 210 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone who recognizes the North Center Bandit or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at 312-421-6700 or 911.
