April 01--The FBI released images Wednesday morning of a bank robber dubbed the Black Cap Bandit, who is believed to have held up four TCF Bank branches.
According to a release from the FBI, the robber earned his name by wearing a black cap during the robberies.
The bandit first struck shortly before 11 a.m. Sept. 25, 2014, at a TCF branch at 3400 N. Western Ave. The next robbery occurred Oct. 10, 2014, at 9424 S. Pulaski Road in Oak Lawn. Two other branches were robbed Oct. 29 and Dec. 31 at 7910 S. Cicero Ave. in Burbank and 3570 N. Elston Ave., the FBI said.
The bandit is also suspected of a Nov. 6 robbery of a Standard Bank branch at 1968 Sibley Ave. in Calumet City.
The Black Cap Bandit is described by witnesses as a black man, about 6 feet, 1 to 3 inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He has been seen wearing a black shirt or jacket, gray hoodie, jeans, a gold cross chain, a black cap and either glasses or sunglasses, the FBI said.
The robber is considered to be armed and dangerous.
