BRIEF: Farm Aid performances in Chicago to be featured in TV special

Jan. 06--Farm Aid will broadcast performances from its September concert at Northerly Island in a 90-minute TV special scheduled to air Sunday.

Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, among others, performed Sept. 19 for Farm Aid's 30th anniversary show. The broadcast, set to air at 7 p.m. on the AXS channel, will include these sets and performances from past Farm Aid shows.

Farm Aid, which raises money to support programs for family farmers, started as a benefit concert in Champaign in 1985. More than 26,000 fans attended the September show at Northerly Island, concert organizers announced.
