BRIEF: 'Fancy Nancy' moves downtown

March 30--The family theater company Emerald City Theatre will bring "Fancy Nancy The Musical" to the Broadway Playhouse this summer, a spokesperson for Broadway in Chicago said on Monday.

The musical based on Jane O'Connor 's children's book is currently playing an engagement at the Apollo Theatre, Emerald City's venue in Lincoln Park. It's about an aspiring ballerina whose hopes are dashed when she's resigned to playing a tree in a recital.

Ernie Nolan directs the musical with a book and lyrics by Susan DiLallo and music and lyrics by Danny Abosch.

The show will run July 11 through Aug. 23 in the downtown theater. The Broadway Playhouse is located at 175 E. Chestnut St.
