BRIEF: 'Family Guy' star joining CBS comedy 'Life in Pieces'

Sept. 16--Alex Borstein, who voices matriarch Lois Griffin on "Family Guy," will guest star on the new CBS comedy "Life in Pieces," Entertainment Weekly reported Tuesday.

Borstein, who was born in Highland Park and grew up in Deerfield, will play an "overly chatty" hairdresser, according to EW. Borstein retweeted EW's story.

"Life in Pieces," which stars James Brolin and Dianne Wiest, looks at a family's life through short stories told through different character perspectives. The show is scheduled to premiere Monday.

Borstein, who plays Dawn Forchette on HBO's medical comedy "Getting On," has served as a writer and consulting producer for "Shameless," a Showtime drama that films in part in Chicago, where the show is set.
