April 27--An extra-alarm fire that broke out in a building in Humboldt Park on the West Side Monday morning is out and no one was injured.
The fire started shortly after 10 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Chicago Avenue, fire officials said. Fire officials said that the building, a mixed commercial and residential structure, was unoccupied.
The fire was under control at 11:58 a.m. and the 2-11 alarm was canceled, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Cmdr. Frank Velez.
Velez said as of noon, firefighters were still fighting "hot spots," at the 2-1/2 story building, but no one was hurt.
The fire was raised to a 2-11 alarm around 10:25 a.m.
The cause of the blaze is under investiation.
