BRIEF: Ex-Santa Clarita coach captured, faces 20 counts of child molestation

March 04--A former basketball coach at a Santa Clarita charter school accused of molesting five teenage boys has been caught and was extradited to Los Angeles on Tuesday, police said.

Randolph Jackson, 27, is in jail on $840,000 bail and faces a host of charges in connection with his time at Albert Einstein Academy, where prosecutors say he molested five boys ages 13 to 17 between November 2010 and January.

The LAPD's juvenile division began investigating Jackson in February after receiving reports about the alleged crimes, police said. Authorities said Jackson fled amid the investigation; prosecutors charged him with 20 felonies and misdemeanors in mid-February.

Authorites eventually tracked Jackson down to Washington D.C., where he was captured Feb. 18 and held until his extradition.

Jackson's charges included oral copulation of a person under 16, sodomy of a person under 16 and lewd acts on a child. He was also charged with nine misdemeanors of indecent exposure.

Jackson faces more than 30 years in prison if convicted. His next court appearance has not been scheduled.
