BRIEF: Evanston woman gets probation for DUI pedestrian death in Skokie

Aug. 05--An Evanston woman with a history of traffic violations has been sentenced to 24 months of probation after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs when she struck and killed a pedestrian in a Skokie crosswalk in 2013, court records show.

Larissa Lomax, 34, was turning onto Main Street from Skokie Boulevard when she struck Alan Rubin, 57, of Skokie, as he was in the crosswalk, police said. Rubin later died at a hospital.

Lomax was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.

Last week, Lomax pled guilty at the Skokie courthouse, where she was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay $1,874 in fines and fees, records show. She also was ordered to undergo a drug test, according to court records.

Court records also show that Lomax had received at least a dozen traffic tickets in the years before the fatality, including citations for speeding and squealing her vehicle's tires.
