BRIEF: Evanston man stabbed to death in South Shore neighborhood

Nov. 04--A 50-year-old Evanston man was found fatally stabbed early Monday morning in the city's South Shore neighborhood.

Police responded shortly after midnight to the 3000 block of East Cheltenham Place and found Andre Brown dead at the scene. Initially, police thought Brown suffered a gunshot wound, but later said he was stabbed.

An autopsy revealed Monday afternoon that Brown died of multiple stab and incised wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The medical examiner's office listed Brown, of the 1400 block of West Chicago Avenue, as 46, but police said and court records indicate that Brown was 50 years old.

As of 5:45 p.m., no one was in custody for the stabbing and police were investigating.
