Jan. 06--The 1985 Bears are the subject of a new ESPN "30 for 30" film scheduled to premiere Feb. 4.
"The '85 Bears," directed by Jason Hehir (who also directed ESPN's terrific "The Fab Five"), examines the team on the 30th anniversary of its Super Bowl victory over the Patriots.
According to ESPN, the film will explore "the birth of Buddy Ryan's 46 Defense, the sweet-revenge victory over the 49ers, the loss to the Dolphins that ruined their perfect season and the 'Super Bowl Shuffle' that was filmed the day after."
Vince Vaughn, who grew up in Lake Forest and is a long-time Bears fan, is one of the project's executive producers.
"Our first two films of the year highlight the diversity of topics that we seek with the 30 for 30 series," said John Dahl, ESPN Films vice president. "The Bears film offers a fresh yet nostalgic look at one of the most iconic teams in NFL history."
"The '85 Bears" will first be shown at 8 p.m. Feb. 4.
