March 07--Three men were shot Friday afternoon in two shootings on the South Side, police said.
Two assailants confronted a 42-year-old male who was sitting in a vehicle in the 7300 block of South Phillips Avenue in the city's South Shore neighborhood and one of them fired shots, hitting the man in the right thigh, according to Chicago Police Officer Bari Lemmon.
The 42-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stabilized following the 4:15 p.m. shooting, Lemmon said.
Two other men, including a 57-year-old who was shot in the leg, were wounded in a separate attack five minutes later in the 6800 block of South Justine Street in the Englewood neighborhood, said Lemmon. The second male victim, of an unknown age, was shot in the chest and seriously to critically wounded, the officer said.
Both victims were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where the 57-year-old's condition had stabilized,
"Both victims were standing in the street when an offender approached on foot and fired shots before fleeing,'' Lemmon said.
No one is in custody for the attacks, which were being investigated by Area Central and Area South detectives
