BRIEF: 'Empire' star Grace Gealey confirms engagement to co-star

Oct. 02--"Empire" star Grace Gealey will confirm her engagement to co-star Trai Byers on Wednesday's episode of "FABLife," a representative for ABC said Friday.

Gealey was spotted wearing an engagement ring at her surprise 31st birthday party in July at Kinmont in River North. Gealey was living in Chicago when she auditioned for "Empire."

Gealey plays Anika Calhoun, who was once engaged to hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon, played by Chicago-born Terrence Howard. Byers, 32, plays Lyon's oldest son Andre.

"Empire," which is filmed in Chicago and set in New York, returned for Season 2 last week on Fox.

The episode of "FABLife," a panel show led by Tyra Banks, will air on ABC at 1 p.m.
