BRIEF: Eliminated 'Bachelor' contestant from Chicago to compete on new season

Dec. 08--Chicagoan Amber James, who was eliminated last season on "The Bachelor," will vie for Ben Higgins' heart in the upcoming season of the reality show, ABC has announced.

James is one of 28 women selected for Season 20 of "The Bachelor." James, a longtime server at Timothy O'Toole's Pub in the Gold Coast neighborhood, was eliminated by Chris Soules early in Season 19 of "The Bachelor," which aired in the winter.

James went on to appear this summer on "Bachelor in Paradise 2," which paired "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" castoffs in Mexico. She didn't find love there either.

Higgins, who was a finalist last season on "The Bachelorette," hails from Warsaw, Ind., about 120 miles southeast of Chicago. Higgins brought some of the contestants home to Warsaw, and a one-on-one date was filmed at Wrigley Field in October.

James is not the only returning "Bachelor" contestant this season. Becca Tilley, also from Season 19, will have another chance at love.

"The Bachelor" is slated to premiere on ABC at 7 p.m. Jan. 4.
