BRIEF: Elena Delle Donne, Courtney Vandersloot headed to Europe with Team USA

Sept. 30--The Sky's Elena Delle Donne and Courtney Vandersloot will join eight other WNBA players and one college player when the U.S. women's national team begins its European training camp and four-game tour on Friday.

Team USA will train in Barcelona, Spain, on Friday and Saturday, then take on EuroLeague club Uni Girona on Sunday in in Girona, Spain. After its final practice in Barcelona, the Team USA will play teams in Rome and Naples, then wrap up the tour against 2015 EuroLeague champion USK Prague on Oct. 9.

The tour is a tune-up on the road to the 2016 Rio Games.

Other U.S. players expected to participate to the tour include Sue Bird (Seattle Storm), Tina Charles (New York Liberty), Stefanie Dolson (Washington Mystics), Candice Dupree (Phoenix Mercury), Brittney Griner (Phoenix Mercury), Angel McCoughtry (Atlanta Dream), Candace Parker (Los Angeles Sparks), Danielle Robinson (San Antonio Stars) and Breanna Stewart (University of Connecticut).

Connecticut's Geno Auriemma coaches the U.S. team and DePaul's Doug Bruno serves as one of his assistant coaches.
