Aug. 10--The Sky's Elena Delle Donne was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for this fourth time this season. Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner earned the honor in the West.
Delle Donne averaged 23 points and nearly seven rebounds since Aug. 3, helping the Sky go 2-1 and raise their record to 14-9. After a relatively quiet showing (17 points) in Chicago's home loss to the New York Liberty, she exploded for 33 points Sunday to lead Chicago to a 74-64 home win against the Mercury.
Delle Donne had a career-high six assists and four blocks while playing just 23 minutes of a 106-82 win against Indiana.
Griner also had a strong close to a productive week, putting up 21 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking five shots in the loss Sunday at Allstate Arena. She has had double-digits scores and rebounds in her last three games.
