BRIEF: Man with Alzheimer's missing since Tuesday afternoon returns home

March 25--An 84-year-old man who went missing Tuesday afternoon from the Logan Square neighborhood has safely returned home, police said Wednesday.

Francisco Acevedo left his home in the 3000 block of North Sawyer Avenue about 2 p.m. to get gas in Bensenville. The gas station where he was headed is on Irving Park Road, east of Route 83, police said.

Acevedo "returned home in good health," police said in a Wednesday afternoon update.

Police said a road detour at Irving Park and York roads may have confused Acevedo, who has Alzheimer's disease.
