BRIEF: Edison Park man, 77, dies after being hit by a vehicle

March 06--A 77-year-old Edison Park man died Friday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle on the Northwest Side, according to authorities.

Officials said the man was struck at 3:05 p.m. in the 6600 block of North Harlem Avenue. A 2013 Toyota was traveling north on Harlem when the man ran into the street and was struck, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The 54-year-old female driver stayed at the scene and no citations were issued, Sedevic said.

William J. Berberich, 77, of the 6800 block of North Overhill Avenue on the city's Northwest Side, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital at 3:38 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

His autopsy is slated for Saturday.
