BRIEF: DuPage officials search for killer of West Chicago man

Nov. 23--DuPage County officials believe a 27-year-old man was targeted and killed in unincorporated West Chicago, officials said Sunday.

Enrique Hernandez Jr., of West Chicago, was killed Friday at the intersection of Highlake Avenue and DuPage Avenue in West Chicago, DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba said in a news release.

The sheriff's office received a call at 11 p.m. of a person on the side of the road, Zaruba said in the release.

According to officials, Hernandez, who was a known gang member, was taken to Central DuPage Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials identified Hernandez on Sunday. Officials are also trying to find his silver or gray 2007 Chevrolet Aveo sedan. According to police the license plate was R614016.

Police believe Hernandez was targeted, and the crime was an isolated incident.
