BRIEF: Driver charged in fatal wrong-way Eisenhower crash

Jan. 14--A Chicago man has been charged with aggravated DUI in a wrong-way crash this week on the Eisenhower Expressway in Forest Park that killed a man and injured several others, police said.

Matthew M. Bougher, 21, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death and aggravated driving under the influence causing great bodily harm, according to Illinois State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond.

The crash occurred about 4:40 a.m. Sunday on eastbound Interstate 290 near Des Plaines Avenue and involved a green 1998 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, a white 2006 Ford Econoline E350 and a white 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer.

Juan Carlos Salazar, 29, of 6300 block of South Archer Avenue -- a front-seat passenger in the Ford -- was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at 5:25 a.m. at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office and police.

None of the other injuries was life-threatening, police said.

Bougher was still hospitalized, and court information was not immediately available, Bond said.
