BRIEF: 2 injured in downtown crash incident

Nov. 13--An Illinois state trooper and another person were injured after a car crash downtown Wednesday evening, authorities said.

A man tried to flee a traffic stop and crashed into another car around 9:50 p.m. in the 500 block of North Franklin Street in the River North neighborhood, according to Illinois State Police.

The man tried to run but was taken into custody by an Illinois state trooper, who suffered a broken finger in the process, according to State Police. The state trooper's car was not involved in the accident, state police said.

One person was also transported with minor injuries to Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a result of the crash.

Charges are pending against the man, according to Illinois State Police.
