BRIEF: Dolton man charged in accidental shooting of friend in Chicago

March 14--A 19-year-old man has been charged with accidentally shooting an acquaintance at a Chicago apartment in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

Donell Blassingill, of the 14000 block of South Ingleside Avenue in Dolton, was charged Monday morning with reckless discharge of a firearm, police said.

About 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Blassingill was inside an apartment in the 7000 block of South Eberhart Avenue with a group of friends when he fired a gun he was holding, police said.

An 18-year-old man was struck in the right arm and was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Blassingill was arrested after he was identified as the person who accidentally shot the victim, police said. He was scheduled to appear Monday at a bail hearing.
