Nov. 13--Man's best friend became man's fellow fugitive in San Luis Obispo County this week after authorities say a dog owner sprang his canine from an animal shelter the night before it was to be euthanized.
Logan Stoffle, 24, a transient, is wanted for allegedly breaking into the county Animal Services Center in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday night.
His dog, Sid, a black and brown pit bull mix, was scheduled to be euthanized Wednesday at the order of a county judge after Sid bit two people, sending both to the hospital.
A worker at the kennel discovered that Sid was missing Wednesday morning and called the sheriff's office. Investigators soon identified the dog's owner, Stoffle, as the suspect. He's known to frequent the Atascadero area, authorities said.
