April 12--Dexter Fowler returns to the Chicago Cubs' lineup Monday night as they open the home portion of their season against the Cincinnati Reds.
Fowler didn't start Sunday because of a sore hip suffered Thursday during a collision with left fielder Kyle Schwarber.
Meanwhile, the Cubs acquired left-handed pitcher Giovanni Soto from the Cleveland Indians organization for a cash consideration. Soto, 24, didn't allow a run in six appearances with the Indians last season.
Soto was 2-1 with two saves and a 2.68 ERA in 46 appearances at Triple-A Columbus last season, limiting opponents to a .187 batting average and allowed only one home run while striking out 51 batters in 53 2/3 innings.
Soto was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. To make room for Soto on the 40-man roster, Schwarber was transferred from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.
