BRIEF: Detroit Auto Show: Infiniti unveils Q60 sports coupe concept

Jan. 13--Not content to let the bigger brands steal the Detroit Auto Show spotlight, Infiniti has unveiled its Q60 concept car -- a modern take on the traditional 2+2 sports coupe.

The production version of the "elegant lifestyle" vehicle will arrive in 2016, Infiniti says.

The concept vehicle is an aluminum two-door body over an aluminum monocoque chassis, with a front-mounted engine, through a 7-speed transmission to an all-wheel-drive powertrain, riding on 21-inch wheels.

The planned coupe will feature a new 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged, V6 engine, first previewed in the company's Q80 Inspiration. Infiniti says this engine will be part of an entire collection of similar smaller, more efficient engines, and will be introduced in vehicles over the next two years.

The car will come standard with the company's Direct Adaptive Steering, for increased handling and road feel, as well as a customizable InTuition system, which allows as many as four drivers to create personalized settings for everything from driving position, climate control choices and music stations.
