March 12--Desperate for a victory to boost their postseason hopes, the Chicago Bulls were without guard Derrick Rose when they faced the Miami Heat on Friday night at the United Center.
Rose is out with a groin strain suffered during Thursday night's loss to the Spurs in San Antonio. It marked the 11th game this season Rose has been sidelined by an injury and the first with a groin ailment.
"I wouldn't say it's frustrating, I'm controlling all I can control," Rose said. "I try my hardest to be out there. But the reality of it is that stuff like this happens. Nobody knows my body but me. I'm just trying to listen to it."
Rose said he's hopeful to return to action when the Bulls face the Raptors in Toronto on Monday but workouts between Friday and then will determine when the veteran will be back in the lineup.
"I don't know how serious or long he'll be out," coach Fred Hoiberg said. "It's a day-to-day thing."
Justin Holiday got the start in place of Rose.
Hoiberg also confirmed that Joakim Noah will not play again this season following shoulder surgery.
Jimmy Butler missed Friday's game with a left knee strain, and Cameron Bairstow was out with a lower-back injury.
