BRIEF: Derrick Rose fifth among guards in early All-Star balloting

Dec. 25--In a sign of just how long he has been sidelined the past two seasons, Derrick Rose is fifth among Eastern Conference guards in first returns of All-Star balloting.

Rose trails the Wizards John Wall, the Heat's Dwayne Wade, the Cavaliers Kyrie Irving and the Raptors Kyle Lowry. Jimmy Butler is sixth behind Rose.

Pau Gasol ranks third and Joakim Noah sixth among Eastern Conference frontcourt. That category is led by LeBron James.
