BRIEF: Deer hanging around Markham courthouse

Feb. 06--A four-legged witness keeps appearing at the Cook County courthouse in Markham: A brown and white deer spotted out front throughout the week, delighting jurors and sheriff's deputies alike.

The doe seems to have created a makeshift home in the snow beneath an evergreen tree just outside the office of Cook County Associate Judge Joan Kubalanza, who calls the visitor "Markham."

Kubalanza suspects the deer might be pregnant because she has a larger-than-typical belly. No buck was seen in the deer's company, according to several bystanders.
