Police find a victim's car after 2 bodies found decomposing in Hacienda Heights home

Oct. 08--A car belonging to a woman whose decomposed body was discovered with a man's body in her Hacienda Heights home was found in El Monte on Thursday, authorities said.

As homicide detectives continued investigating the deaths, the car, which was believed to be stolen from the home, is now being processed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's crime lab, authorities said.

The bodies of the man and woman were discovered about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after deputies responded to a report to check on the welfare of the woman, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. She hadn't been seen in about a week.

Deputies could smell a strong odor of decomposition coming from the house in the 16600 block of Carriage Place. They had to use force to enter the home.

Inside the home, deputies found the 84-year-old woman and a man, whose age is not known, in separate rooms. The pair appeared to have been assaulted, according to the sheriff's department.

Detectives think the woman owned the home and was living with her son. The woman's son was in jail and was not at home at the time of the incident, the Sheriff's Department said.
