BRIEF: Decomposed body of man found in South Shore neighborhood

Nov. 12--A woman found the decomposed remains of a man near a garage in the South Shore neighborhood Wednesday afternoon on the South Side, police said.

The skeletal remains were found outside in the 7100 block of South Constance Avenue around 3:40 p.m., according to police. The remains were determined to be human, but the Cook County medical examiner's office did not make a determination about how or in what way the person was killed, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

The person's exact age was not known, but police said the remains appeared to be those of an adult.

It was also not immediately clear when exactly the person died, but police said the remains reflected no apparent trauma.

Police opened a death investigation into the case and are trying to figure out the body's identity. Officials said say they were checking their database of missing people.
