Feb. 08--A year after the Grateful Dead held farewell shows at Soldier Field, the Dead and Company will play in the Chicago area as part of a summer tour.
The Dead and Company members -- Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, singer/guitarist John Mayer, Allman Brothers' bassist Oteil Burbridge and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti -- are slated to play the Alpine Valley Music Theatre July 9-10 in East Troy, Wis.
Ticket pre-sale is slated to begin 10 a.m. Feb. 12 while the general public sale is scheduled to start 10 a.m. Feb. 13.
The Dead and Company tour is set to begin at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in June and wrap up in Boston in July.
Under the Grateful Dead label, Hart, Weir, Kreutzmann and bassist Phil Lesh played three sold-out "Fare Thee Well" shows at Soldier Field in July.
