April 23--State officials are investigating allegations of neglect after the death of an 8-year-old boy in Skokie, officials said Wednesday.
Aiden Bard of the the 9000 block of Lacrosse Avenue in Skokie was pronounced dead on Monday at 12:25 p.m. at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The Illlinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating a caretaker for the boy for neglect, said Veronica Resa, a spokeswoman for the agency.
An autopsy conducted Wednesday found that the boy died of complications of thermal injuries from immersion in hot water, according to the medical examiner's office.
The boy's death was ruled an accident, according to the autopsy.
Skokie police officials were not available.
