Jan. 07--Two small magnitude 3.5 earthquakes shook parts of Texas on Tuesday, but no damage was immediately reported.
The first one rattled the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area shortly after 3 p.m. Central time, and a second one struck Snyder less than an hour later. Snyder is about 250 miles west of Dallas.
The epicenter of the first quake was about six miles northwest of downtown Dallas, near the suburb of Irving, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, Irving Fire Department Assistant Chief Rusty Wilson told the Los Angeles Times.
Dallas-area media reported jiggling chairs and desks, and residents posted tongue-in-cheek Instagram photos of "damage" that included a tipped-over water bottle, a tipped-over action figure and a tipped-over backpack.
"The tiniest earthquake," one Instagram user posted, showing a tipped-over paper bag with what looks like an empty sparkling cider bottle inside. "It tipped over a portion of our holiday recycling."
