April 29--Former Bears wide receiver Curtis Conway, who was the seventh overall pick in the 1993 draft out of USC, believes the team has more pressing needs at other positions when it again picks seventh Thursday in the 2015 NFL draft.
"I had the Bears going defense," Conway said Wednesday during an NFL Network luncheon in Chicago. "Having a high pick in the second round ... there are a ton of solid wide receivers that I think could be a solid No. 2 to Alshon (Jeffery). I don't think you have to go get a No. 1."
In seven seasons with the Bears, Conway caught 329 passes for 4,498 yards and 31 touchdowns.
"I say defense, but it's hard to pass on (wide receiver) Amari Cooper or Kevin White if they are sitting there at No. 7. So I don't think the Bears can go wrong at all if they go for a receiver in the first or second round, especially if you have Kevin White or Amari Cooper sitting there."
