BRIEF: Culver's President Phil Keiser to take on CEO role

Feb. 10--Culver's co-founder Craig Culver plans to hand over the CEO role to President and Chief Operating Officer Phil Keiser on June 15, the Wisconsin-based burger and frozen custard chain said Tuesday.

Keiser, who has been with Culver's since 1996, will retain the role of president.

His promotion will come the day that Culver turns 65, the company said.

Keiser has been a key leader as the franchised chain, known for its ButterBurgers, has expanded. Culver's, which was started in 1984, now has more than $1 billion in systemwide sales across more than 500 restaurants in 22 states. It opened 34 restaurants in 2014 and has more than 40 new stores planned for this year.

Craig Culver will stay on as chairman and will be a part of the Culver's "Welcome to Delicious" marketing campaign, the company said.
