BRIEF: Cubs' Wada added to All-Star Series

Nov. 07--Chicago Cubs left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada was one of 29 players named to the major league roster that will compete in the five-game Japan All-Star Series starting Tuesday.

Wada, a native of Japan who agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract on Monday, was 4-4 with a 3.25 ERA in 13 starts for the Cubs last season. The group of major leaguers will play Japan's National Team.

In other Cubs news, Triple-A Iowa outfielders Manny Ramirez and Josh Vitters were two of 15 players who became minor league free agents. Among the other Cubs players who became minor league free agents were pitchers Alberto Cabrera, Lendy Castillo, Marcus Hatley, Marcos Mateo, Dae-Eun Rhee, catcher Charlie Cutler and infielders Chris Valaika and Jonathan Mota.
