Sept. 08--The Chicago Cubs will make their own history when they open the 2016 regular season against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on April 5.
This will mark the first time the Cubs will open a season with an interleague game, according to a tentative schedule released Tuesday.
The Cubs will open on the road for the third time in four seasons and for the 11th time in 15 seasons. They will play their 2016 home opener on April 11 against the Reds.
In other interleague games, the Cubs will play host to the Rangers (July 15-17), Mariners (July 29-31) and travel to play the Athletics (Aug. 5-7) and the Astros (Sept. 9-11). The Cubs will play the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field on July 25-26 and at Wrigley Field on July 27-28.
The Cubs' opening series against the Angels is their lone interleague series before the All-Star break.
The Cubs' first homestand features games against the Reds (April 11, 13, 14) and Rockies (April 15-17). Their first home series against the Cardinals won't be played until June 20-22.
