Oct. 01--Joe Maddon fielded another new lineup Thursday from the Chicago Cubs as they tried to complete a three-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds at a rain-soaked Great American Ballpark.
After Wednesday night's 10-3 win, Maddon said he was going to "move it around" against Reds left-hander John Lamb.
Maddon went with a predominately right-handed hitting lineup as he continues to evaluate all his options for the National League wild-card game on Oct. 7 against Pittsburgh. Chris Denorfia started in left field, with Austin Jackson in right. Rookie Kyle Schwarber made his first start behind the plate since Aug. 31.
Maddon used Schwarber as his leadoff hitter Wednesday, and Austin Jackson drove in a career-high five RBIs while playing center field in place of Dexter Fowler.
"I feel comfortable," Maddon said. "It's like, 'you guys go out there and play. We feel comfortable with you guys out there. The other guys take a break. It's wonderful.
"You get to this point, you get it going on and everyone is feeding off one another."
