Sunday's recap: Cubs 7, Diamondbacks 3

April 11--Jake Arrieta's scoreless streak dating back to last season ended at 32 innings, but he was supported by an 11-hit attack that included a tie-breaking home run by Jorge Soler in the seventh that sparked the Cubs to a 7-3 victory over the Diamondbacks and cap a 5-1 trip to start the season.

At the plate

Arrieta helped his cause by ripping a two-run home run in the second that traveled an estimated 442 feet. Miguel Montero seemed baffled that his two deep drives to center field didn't clear the yellow line. Montero, who played his home games at Chase Field from 2007-14, hit a double that preceded Arrieta's home run, and his double in the fourth scored Tommy La Stella.

On the mound

Arrieta's streak ended after Paul Goldschmidt led off the fourth with a home run, and Jake Lamb followed later with an RBI single. Socrates Brito hit a homer off Arrieta to tie the game at 3 in the fifth. Arrieta hadn't allowed two earned runs in a start since Aug. 15.

In the field

With center fielder Dexter Fowler nursing a sore right hip, Kris Bryant made his first start in right field, with La Stella taking over at third and Jason Heyward moving to center.

Key number

3 -- Career home runs by Arrieta
