March 05--MESA, Arriz. -- Manager Joe Maddon said not to read much into his lineups for Thursday's split-squad games.
But Thursday's lineup that will face the world champion San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale appears attractive from a future standpoint. The Cubs will send third baseman Kris Bryant, designated hitter Kyle Schwarber and shortstop Addison Russell to face the Giants.
Maddon will stay in Mesa to watch most of his projected regular starting position players against the Oakland Athletics.
