March 09--Albert Almora gave the Chicago Cubs a scare Wednesday after asking for one more pop up hit in his direction during a drill.
Almora went down and had to be helped off the field, according to witnesses. Fortunately for Almora and the Cubs, their prized outfield prospect suffered only a back spasms and he said he can return soon.
"I told (coach) Brandon Hyde, 'I want this last one,'" Almora said. "I took off. I felt my back knot up.
"It happens. But I feel good."
Almora is known for his fearless and near flawless play in the outfield. He suffered concussions on two occasions while playing for Double-A Tennessee last season and said he has experienced back spasms in the past.
"I could go right now," said Almora, who could start the 2016 season at Triple-A Iowa. "I can play 100 percent right now. Why do it? The games don't count. But any day in the season, I'm playing. It's just precautionary."
