BRIEF: Cubs players gifted Joe Maddon with two bottles of whiskey

April 04--Manager Joe Maddon likes to unwind after a Cubs game with chunks of dark chocolate and a few sips of red wine.

But his players, led by center fielder Dexter Fowler, this wekend gave Maddon a special beverage for a special occasion.

Fowler, on behalf of the players, gave Maddon two bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch whisky. One of the bottles was engraved with Maddon's 2016 slogan "Embrace the Target."

Maddon described the moment as "kind of a surprise," adding that he would open the bottles "at the appropriate time."

According to Fowler, Maddon set the tone for the 2016 season with his slogan as well as keeping the pre-workout stretching session entertaining with several stunts, such as arriving in his van wearing a 1970's tie-dye T-shirt, conducting karaoke contests and bringing baby bears.

"It's very cool (the players) would so something like that," Maddon said of the gifts.
