Jan. 09--The Cubs made the signing of outfielder Chris Denorfia official on Friday.
Denorfia, who agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million contract, is expected to platoon in left field, but can play all three outfield positions. He's a career .292 hitter against lefties, with a .358 on-base percentage and .430 slugging percentage.
To make room for Denorfia on the roster, the Cubs designated minor league pitcher Mike Kickham for assignment. Kickham was claimed on waivers from the Giants on Dec. 23.
