April 04--Manager Joe Maddon used 119 lineups last season, and newcomers Ben Zobrist and Jason Heyward have no qualms about where they bat in the Chicago Cubs' lineup this season.
"It doesn't matter," said Zobrist, who is expected to bat either third or fifth in Monday night's season opener against the Los Angeles Angels. "I spent so many year shuffled around. I'm used to it and can deal with it.
"Each new day has a different shape to it. You just roll with it."
Zobrist was used to Maddon's methods during their days with the Tampa Bay Rays from 2006 to 2014.
Heyward is prepared for any spot, although Maddon would like to keep him in the second spot as a comfort zone.
"I'll bat everywhere," Heyward said. "Whatever to help us win."
Heyward he's batted anywhere from first to ninth, but baseball-reference.com indicated that Heyward hasn't made a start in the ninth spot.
Heyward, however, has batted eighth 19 times in his career, including eight starts with the St. Louis Cardinals last season.
