March 29--SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Many of the Chicago Cubs' projected starting position players will get Sunday off as their final break before entering the final six days of spring training.
The Cubs are expected to extend their players in those final six games in preparation for the April 5 opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.
In the meantime, team officials will get another close look at phenom Kris Bryant.
Bryant, who went 4-for-5 against Colorado on Saturday and leads the Cactus League with nine home runs, will start in left field Sunday against the Kansas City Royals at Surprise Stadium.
The Cubs haven't made a decision on where Bryant, 23, will start the regular season, although he appears destined for Triple-A Iowa.
The Cubs also will continue to evaluate second baseman Javier Baez, who went 2-for-4 against Cincinnati and is batting .188. Baez will start at second.
It's also an important outing for Edwin Jackson as he tries to give his organization more confidence sharing the fifth spot with left-hander Travis Wood.
