BRIEF: Cubs' Jorge Soler, Jason Motte head to disabled list

Aug. 24--Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler and reliever Jason Motte were placed on the disabled list on Monday.

Infielder Tommy La Stella and reliever Zac Rosscup were called up from Triple-A Iowa.

Soler suffered a left oblique strain, and could miss a month. With La Stella's arrival, Chris Coghlan can move back to right field. La Stella has been gone most of the season with an oblique injury, which he re-injured in May at Double-A Tennessee after being hit by a pitch.

Motte has a right shoulder strain, and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. He's on a no throwing program for the next 7-10 days.

Both Soler and Motte would be eligible if the Cubs make the postseason.

Addison Russell will also be out today with his fiancee is in labor, and is day-to-day. Starlin Castro is back starting at short for the first time since his benching.
