Sept. 21--After moving closer to a National League playoff berth by winning five of their past seven games against NL Central rivals Pittsburgh and St. Louis, manager Joe Maddon believes his Chicago Cubs won't let down when they open a three-game series Monday night against the lowly Milwaukee Brewers.
"I would think not, based on how we've been playing and the fact we've been moving the lineup back and forth with different guys we've been getting out there," Maddon said.
"Everyone knows what's at stake, and I anticipate the same kind of baseball. But I said before this all occurred, I like playing teams in the hunt this time of year."
The Brewers (63-86) recently snapped an eight-game losing streak but remain in last place in the NL Central.
"It's not a bad week between Pittsburgh and St. Louis this time of year with a bunch of youngsters who have never gone through it before," Maddon said.
"If you're a Cub fan, you have to be very proud of your boys."
