May 06--Jason Heyward will miss his fourth consecutive start Thursday night as the Chicago Cubs open a four-game series against the Washington Nationals.
Heyward has been nursing a sore right wrist. Tommy La Stella will bat second and play third, and Kris Bryant will play right field.
Tim Federowicz will start behind the plate as Kyle Hendricks makes his first start since April 26. The Cubs are 32-17 in Hendricks' first 49 starts. The last time the Cubs won at least 32 of a pitcher's first 50 starts was 1984-86 when they were 32-18 in Rick Sutcliffe's first 50 outings.
The last time the Cubs won at least 33 of a pitcher's first 50 starts with the team was in 1945-47, when they were 35-15 in Hank Borowy's first 50 starts, according to STATS Inc.
The Cubs also placed reliever Neil Ramirez on the bereavement list and called up reliever Spencer Patton from Iowa, where he didn't allow a run in 10 games.
