April 25--Jake Arrieta's amazing week was capped Monday by his selection as the National League Player of the Week ending Sunday.
Arrieta, 30, pitched a no-hitter Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Arrieta struck out six in his 119-pitch outing. Arrieta improved to 4-0 while lowing his ERA to 0.87 this season.
This marked the second no-hitter for Arrieta, who blanked the Dodgers on Aug. 30. Both of Arrieta's no-hitters have occurred during a 21-game stretch in which he's 15-0 with an 0.53 ERA in his past 16 starts dating back to Aug. 1.
Arrieta won the NL Player of the Week award three times and the NL Pitcher of the Month award twice in 2015.
